Welcome to Caerleon RFC Petanque Club's official website.
Caerleon RFC Petanque Club was established in 2005, and is affiliated to the Welsh Petanque Association. We have teams playing in both the WPA Welsh League and the local Boules in Gwent (BiG) League - and Club players have represented Wales and Great Britain in major competitions.
We are a competitive but friendly club: old and new players are very welcome to come along for a game. Petanque is a game that can be played by men and women, older people and children on an equal footing - so come to a Friday melee and give it a try. Boules can be borrowed from the club.

BLUES WIN BiG LEAGUE PLATE FINAL
The Blues triumphed in a very close - and very soggy - match against Abergavenny yesterday (Saturday 4th). Paul Mayfield & Barbara Vaughan got off to a flying start with a 13-1 win getting to grips quickly with the slopes of Panteg. Mike North & Kon Tomczyck initially looked to have their first game sewn up, but their opposition eventually rallied to take the game - a 1-1 draw so far, with the Blues ahead on countback. With the hardy RFC spectators keeping a careful eye on the scores for countback, the Barbara and Paul sealed the match by winning their second game, as Kon and Mike edged past the tipping point. They ended up losing their game but did enough work in both matches to ensure the Blues went through on points difference - well done!! We loitered to see the Cup played - an all-Abergavenny affair which Aber Blues (Chelsea were right - Blue is the colour!) won. Thanks to Robin Matthews for invigilating and organising the games.
The Blues will be the sole RFC representatives at the Champion of Champions on 19th October. Good luck in both events, the Blues!
INTER-COUNTIES
Sadly, this event was cancelled on Saturday in anticipation of a monsoon that never arrived. The Newport team (Rich Harris, Alison, Paul & Katie Gregory, Paul & Tansy Mayfield) have yet another year to wait to claim certain victory - having had their last effort in 2006 rained off too! Ah well - Newport will just have to conquer Cambridge instead!
BiG LEAGUE PRESENTATION NIGHT
The presentation do will be held at PILCS this year on Saturday 22nd November. Tickets will cost £6 - price includes chicken & chips and entertainment. Karen and Chris of PILCS (who came to our Bastille Day) seem to be in charge of oragnising, say that everyone is welcome and encourgaed to join in what is usually a really good evening. Let Barabara know ASAP if you can attend. PILCS clubhouse is at New Road, New Inn, Pontypool
WALES vs MARCHES
At last - a victory for Wales over the English (some of them at least!) See News.
WPA LEAGUE
At the final reckoning, it seems that the Romans and the Celts have both secured promotion as runners-up in Divisions 2 and 3 respectively - well done! The Flys werean impressive 3rd in division 2, so perhaps we make it an RFC 1st and 2nd in div 2 next year.
BiG LEAGUE
With all games played we can congratulate the Blues who division 2 - well done the Blues! The As were just shaded out of Champion of Champions, ending up in 5th place in division one. In the meantime, the Green suffered a bad end to the season and will be demoted next year - hard luck, the boys.
