The Welsh Museum of Public Road Transport
Swansea Bus Museum
ABOUT US:
We are a group of like minded volunteers who wish to preserve our public road transport heritage for future generations to enjoy.
In 1997 a group of South Wales bus enthusiasts started a conversation which in turn prompted the idea of the now established working Museum aptly named ‘The Welsh Museum of Public Road Transport’ which is located in Pentrechwyth, Swansea.
Hard graft and effort has paid off by all those involved. All of which have one thing in common: The aim of locating and restoring as many of those ex South Wales vehicles as possible. The group has come a long way but we still have a long way to go.
OPEN DAYS
Part of the museums public awareness exercise has centered on special open days at Upper Bank; these have successfully attracted local schools and other special interest groups. Road runs, organised by the members, have proved to be very popular with the locals and usually include a run to a regional attraction undertaken in heritage vehicles. The visitor’s travel free of charge, on the museums buses, and so they naturally are encouraged to ‘spread the word’ and become supporters of the project.
People must bear in mind that when visiting this museum it is a working museum & that we are a non profit making group
