Greyhounds in Wales
Greyhounds in Wales Groups adhere to the "gold standards" set by Greyhound Rescue Wales, founded 1993; the largest of the organisations, with volunteers throughout in the principality.

CARE OF THE HOUNDS
Most, but preferably all, resources devoted to Welsh Hounds and their needs
Assessment of temperament, neutering, vaccinating etc. ensuring medical fitness before adoption.
Many are also micro chipped and tooth cleaned.

SUITABLE HOMES
Home vetting includes a Home Visit to assess requirements, vet checks if appropriate.
Knowledge of the area immediately around the home .. No use putting A1 keen dog with family whose neighbours have a house bunny that enjoys scampering around their shared garden. Follow-up calls always and visits if needed.

IF IT ALL GOES WRONG
Taking the hound back and starting again.

Our Events website is maintained by Greyhound Welfare, charity 1077343, founded in 1998 operating in South Wales and the West.
Our Adoptions website is maintained by South Wales RGT charity 269668. A relatively new branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust founded in 1975.
GIW groups aim to provide an easy, friendly way for organisations seeking loving homes for Welsh Hounds to come together. United by their love of the dogs and regardless of their different methods, policies or politics.

GIW Groups have the same high standards of honesty and courtesy towards owners and supporters, past, present and prospective.
Most are members of the Animal Welfare Network for Wales. An RSPCA initiative aiming to unite, support and monitor the work of all animal welfare groups in Wales.

The Events Website www.greyhoundsinwales.moonfruit.com/ has space available for any organisation providing opportunities for fundraising on behalf of greyhounds or lurchers.

The Adoptions Website
www.houndsandhomesinwales.moonfruit.com/ has space available for any group seeking safe and loving homes for greyhounds or lurchers finding themselves in need of care in Wales.

We would like to share the opportunities provided by these sites and invite any hound people organising events or looking for homes to get in touch.

Meanwhile Happy New Year from Barry Island where 20 people and 12 dogs braved the elements on 1.1.07, although not many made it to the Beach.

We'll be doing it all again next year and hope to see you there.
